Passed my test a month ago now. And the mini is now rust free and ready for a mot. Is there any insurance companies which would be cheaper for 17 yr old first time driver with a classic mini 1000. Cheers Tom

Unfortunately you can't get classic insurance at 17 - very few companies will even do it at 21, so you're going to be insuring it on standard insurance (which won't pay out very much if you write it off).

All three of my kids started their driving career in classic Minis (they still each have a Mini in addition to their modern cars). From my experience, you'll probably find Admiral or one of its subsidiaries will work out cheapest - they're a terrible company IMO and I'd never use them if it didn't come down to price, but as a new driver you have to take what you can get.

You might be able to get agreed value - it doens't have to be a classic policy or a classic car to qualify, though your age may preclude this sort of feature. The standard providers on Compare the market unlikely to offer agreed value, but leaf through the mags to see the specialists
