Coventry MotoFest 30th May to 1st June 2014

Coventry is the spiritual homeland of the British motor industry and the birthplace of marques such as Humber, Riley, Sunbeam, Triumph and Hillman. A group of car enthusiats supported by Coventry City Council and Coventry University are working to put on Coventry MotoFest – ‘a celebration of motoring, film and music’, which will be held from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1.

Highlights will include an appearance on the Friday night by special guest Chris Barrie of Spitting Image and Red Dwarf fame who is also a well-known classic car and engineering aficionado. A live music stage will be built outside Coventry Transport Museum, together with a bar run by Byatt’s Brewery, Coventry’s local microbrewery that is creating a special beer just for MotoFest.

There will be live action display celebration of 60 years of stock car racing in the city centre as well as rally car demonstrations and a motorcycle stunt show sponsored by Triumph Motorcycles – the UK’s largest motorbike manufacturer that started in Coventry.

MotoFest will also have a static display of cars and bikes that are 20 years old or older in Coventry city centre. To mark 40 years since the completion of the Coventry ring road the anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed for a parade of race, rally and other sporting vehicles on the Sunday.

A London to Coventry cruise for historic cars and bikes will be travelling from the Ace Café on the capital’s North Circular Road to Coventry city centre on the Sunday. The Ace will also be setting up a temporary Coventry branch in the form of a pop-up café in the city.

As part of MotoFest a full programme of feature films will be played in two cinemas over the whole weekend. Including ‘The Italian Job’, ‘Senna’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’.

So, with all that going on, I was wondering if a mini club would be interested in a club stand area on the Saturday and Sunday of the event? There is space for approx 15 cars in a prominent location. Cars would need to be classic minis or variants only (sorry but Bmw minis are too new) and would need to be on stand 9-4 both days.
