Brooklands mini day - Sunday 24th March 2013

Postby Croker » Fri 25th Jan 2013, 07:36pm

Brooklands mini day.

From the oldest to the newest, this year’s event will see some of the earliest Minis nestling among the hundreds of Minis and their variations such as Vans, Pickups and Mini Mokes parked within the Museum grounds.

As in previous years, Test Hill will be in action with both morning and afternoon runs. We will also be holding a ‘Show N Shine’ competition and prizes will be awarded for the top two cars in each class. Admission also includes access to plenty of trade stands and entry into the museum.

The proposed timetable for the day is as follows:
8.30am Gates open for pre-booked ticket holders
9.00am Gates open to the public and minis without tickets
11.15am-12.00 Test Hill in action
1-1.45pm Show’N’Shine Judging
2.15-3pm Test Hill in action
3.45pm Show’N’Shine prize giving
5.00pm Event closes

We will be holding a Best Dressed Club Stand competition again - the theme this year is the 1970s

* NORMAL MUSEUM ADMISSION CHARGES APPLY - £10 FOR ADULTS, £9 FOR SENIORS/ STUDENTS, £5.50 FOR CHILDREN AGED 5-16 AND £ 27 FOR A FAMILY TICKET INCLUDING 2 ADULTS & UP TO 3 CHILDREN, UNDER 5s FREE*

Half a dozen of us went along to this last year and had a great day out. A good opportunity to give the mini a good run after its winter hibernation and have a picnic in the sun. ( hopefully!)

Sorry chaps, my vehicular activities for this year have gone off on a different track! So it seems I'll be mini-less for a spell.
Will hopefully still make it along to say hi though :D

By the way, welcome back Bibble!! 8.)

After much deliberations Bibble and I have decided not to take the minis on Sunday.

With the two new engines still to be run in we're both limited to 50mph. So it's gonna take us 2 1/2 hours to get there. Not to keen on a five hour round trip to get freezing cold and soaking wet!

Still gonna head down but if the weather's crap (which look likely), we might just go for a nice lunch and go to Mercedes world next door to watch the F1 replay on there big screen.

Still up for meeting at clackets but time will depend on what we end up doing.

As soon as we've firmed up the details I'll post it here.

We had snow on Saturday night so bottled it in the end. All ended up in a nice warm pub and having a roast dinner.

Such a contrast from last year!

we were there, was blooming freezing!

not many stalls to buy stuff from, was a good day out though, even if we were nearly hyperthermic at the end

we had a little fun as we came off the motorway, the hub nut on the front drivers side came loose, split pin had disintegrated, so we had to limp into the grounds, made it though, fortunately one of the stall holders had a socket to fit, for sale, we had taken the tools and spares for just about every other eventuality. Who would have thought to pack a hub nut socket? alls well that ends well, mind you hubs wasnt impressed crouching on the ground fixing it in the near sub zero temperatures
