[northwest] rolling road shootout 2010

Postby philster » Tue 1st Dec 2009, 05:50pm

Think we need to sort another one out for 2010

date I would say April again, before the show season properly kicks off (minis v beetles is the bank holiday so that rules out saturday the 3rd)

venue, that's a bloody good question, I don't want to go RE again, minisport is the obvious choice (if they'll have us after last time  ) , don't really want to use a chassis dyno as I think that takes away the fun :D

opinions welcome, what do you reckon peeps?

I've contacted them last year but they are seriously limited with numbers (ie 10 cars) so that kind of rules them out unfortunately

I may go round a few places in the NW and have a day of just going round a few (ie giving the mini a good spanking  ) to see what's what, prices, equipment wether they appear to be rhubarbing numpties etc etc.... if I had the cash i'd book a power run at a few and see who's best but i'm not rhubarbing loaded

also thought about sorting a few trophy's and maybe a leaderboard for the day (kind of top gear lap style)

classes would depend on what we've got booked in really but sumat along the lines of top small bore, top large bore etc etc.........

I'm in I will bring the mini with the new engine

I say mini MiniSport, if you speak to Rob I'm sure he'll welcome us back. I agree on the chassis dyno thing but I really don't want to go back to the same place as last time

score bored sounds cool too

I'm up for this again.... But PLEASE can we have somewhere where the tester at least speaks. I don't really care what language, Marsish or Venusian would be better than nothing or the odd grunt:roll:

TBH my vote still goes to Rob at Minisport. He's a nice guy, he knows what he's doing and he's helpful.. What more could anyone want? (and at least there's a good butty shop around the corner)

I would definately be up for this :D and I should HOPEFULL be in a working 1980s mini :D

Definately didnt like the place we had last year. I dont think mini-sport will have a problem this time. Its been over a year for them to cool off as it were .

we decided to look at other venues the last time but ms promised us some discount so we stayed with them, then on the day they knew nothing about it.

There was then some 'heated' discussion online after the event

Having said that rob is a top bloke and the RR days at MS do seam to go well, the reason for a venue change was it all got a bit samey.

If there's any strong candidates then I shall go visit them and see what the facilities are like, there's also price to consider

I think seems as we have had the NW RR going for a while now it would be a shame to take it away from the NW

I like the idea of mini sport but if we can find some where that has that is capable of taking the other two cars (you know what I mean) then I would be happy to go some were else but lets keep it in the north west, with pies!

agreed it's gonna have to be in the northwest.....

if there's enough interest from other regions then there's no reason we can't have more than one, I know in the past we've had a few dotted about the country.

As i've said already I think i'll spend a day visiting a few and see if there's anywhere that looks promising and meets our requirements

there's no mad rush yet though, as long as we have a venue sorted for new year it gives us a few months to sort deposits etc before april
